Another Great Evernote Review

The guys at Duct Tape Marketing have a great article on one my favorite and moste useful pieces of software: Evernote. It got me to thinking about how I use Evernote and why it’s one of my top all-time pics for the small business owner.

If I had one piece of software to use (other then my web browser) it would have to be Evernote. It’s the swiss army knives of software. It does many useful things well, lives on many platforms and syncs across all my devices.

Evernote Everywhere

  • The Android app is on my phone for a quick picture, text note or voice memo.
  • The software is installed on my work computer, home computer, laptop, Android phone and iPad. All my notes sync across the devices.
  • The web clipper is installed on all my web browsers. I save page clips for reference or to read later.
  • The Evernote web site allows me to access all of my notes, pictures, clippings, scans etc from any computer.

How Evernote Makes My Life Easier

  • The simple text editor keeps me focused on the writing. True, it lacks the bells and whistles of MS Word or even Google Docs. But it’s the simplicity that makes it a great writing tool.
  • Since it works online and off I can take Evernote everywhere.
  • My scanner is set to scan directly to Evernote allowing me to cut back drastically on the amount of paper I keep. Even when I need to keep originals I still scan them into Evernote for filing and backup.
  • The Evernote service recognizes images, pictures and even handwritten notes then scans them for text making them available in search.
  • The notebooks, tags and saved searches make organizing my information quick and easy.

Evernote is a great piece of software for any small business owner. I’ll be doing more How-To articles on the specifics of Evernote. In the mean time, enjoy the article from the guys at Duct Tape Marketing.
